collagen stimulating THREADS
so here we are again. and by again i mean experimenting with threads.
now i know you think it’s been a hot minute since i last dabbled in threads. however, it has actually been a year and a half and these threads are completely different from the last threads i used which you can read more here.
so let’s get straight into it.
the threads i had are called Matrix PDO Threads.
Now what on earth are Matrix PDO Threads?
Matrix PDO Threads are another method of tightening and thickening your skin. They are a type of filament that are smooth and without barbs similar looking to fishing wire. Matrix PDO Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level of the skin to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.
you may wonder why i decided to opt for threads over a bunch of different treatments which have been around for years?
well i am a self proclaimed collagen junkie. therefore, using fillers was out of the question. besides i don’t particularly like the look of filler as it alters your facial features. i am here trying to keep my face, just decrease ageing and stimulate my own collagen production.
so here’s the catch with collagen. once you hit around 22 years old your body no longer produces collagen itself. that’s when the GRIM-REAPER aka ageing takes over and, year by year, month by month, day by day, your collagen decreases creating WRINKLES, thin skin and fine lines.
regardless of how much collagen you drink or eat, it will never stop ageing it will only slow it down. this also goes with threads. it wont stop the effects of ageing but it astronomically decreases the speed of it.
Okay let’s jump into it….
FIRSTLY I had my treatment with Naomi FROM envogue who is the trainer for matrix pdo threads. if it’s anything i have learnt in all my years WHEN dabbling in cosmetics, you want the best in the business. so of course i seeked out naomi. i did not see any marketing or influencers post about her, i GENUINELY searched around.
also naomi is resposinble for alot of the before and after images supplied by matrix which i will link here.
now you guys didn’t come here for anything discreet. of course im going to show you the pricks, pins, blood and all!
how the process works is The PDO Threads are inserted using a micro-needle. There is no incision and no stitches required. The PDO threads are inserted into the deep dermal / subdermal tissue. Once fully inserted, The hub of the needle (pink tip) is then pulled through and slowly removed whilst the other hand is putting slight pressure on the skin where the threads lie so they stay in place.
this is only the BEGINNING. i had roughly around 40 threads inserted into my chin and jaw area. i did not feel anything. i was completely numb. once they were inserted my face just felt heavy.
overall, the treatment took around 60 minutes.
Offering long-lasting skin rejuvenation, PDO Thread results are seen in 8-12 weeks and last up to 12 months.
Immediately after the treatment my face was cold compressed and i took a panadol. other than that, there wasn’t any discomfort or pain. i felt slightly lightheaded if anything.
okay so recovery!
I was lucky in the sense that i didn’t bruise immediately or servely from the treatment.
i was still able to go about my normal routine. i did light exercise mainly pilates, nothing strenuous.
i will add that one you have pdo threads, you can not have any laser treatments in that area for around 3 months.
